Prices - Remedial massage Hicaps available

HOW LONG ARE APPOINTMENTS

Appointments are usually 1 – 1/2 hours.

WHAT DO I WEAR

We will ask you to undress to your comfort level (usually your underwear). It is possible to be massaged fully clothed however you may run the risk of getting massage oil on them.

DO I NEED A REFERRAL?

No referral is required. However, we will ask you to complete an intake form.

FEES, PAYMENTS, AND CARE PLANS

Payment is required at the time of your appointment. The Hamilton clinic does have HICAPS, and payments can be made using eftpos, credit card, or cash. Please note that the Redcliffe clinic does not have HICAPS or eftpos facilities however you will still receive a receipt to claim.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST TREATMENT?

Before your first treatment, you will have a consultation with a qualified therapist. I will discuss your treatment requirements and allow you to tell me about any aches and pains you may like me to address. Depending on the treatment required I may ask you to undergo a postural assessment to better understand the underlying causes of any discomfort. A personal treatment plan will be established from your consultation.

WHEN IS IT MOST BENEFICIAL TO HAVE SPORTS MASSAGE?

It is beneficial both before and after sport activities. Before a sport event it is advisable to have a treatment no less than 48 hours before the event to help improve your performance. You can have it any time after the activity or event to help recovery and aid the healing of any possible injuries. It will also help you to keep more supple and reduce the chances of an injury.

WILL MY TREATMENT BE PAINFUL?

Some treatments, such as Deep Tissue Massage or Sports Massage can be a bit painful but only within tolerance. You should always communicate if you feel it to be too much for your needs.  However, it all depends on the treatment you would like to receive: if you are coming for a relaxing or pregnancy massage for example, it should be pain free and soothing even if deep. Please don’t hesitate to communicate with the therapist during your treatment as this is the only way we can make sure that you are receiving the treatment perfect to you.

HOW WILL I FEEL AS A RESULT OF THE TREATMENT?

After a relaxing massage you will feel very relaxed, soothed and maybe a bit sleepy. After a Deep Tissue or Sports Massage treatment a little soreness is also normal as a therapeutic reaction but this should subside within a day or two and your body should feel the benefits of your treatment.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I RECEIVE TREATMENTS?

It will depend upon your individual needs. For an acute problem, it is usually helpful to have at least 1 or 2 massages a week for the first 4-5 weeks. This helps to speed up recovery. Most clients choose to come once a week for several consecutive weeks, but it is also beneficial to come every 2 weeks or even just once a month. The greater the regularity the better the results.

IS IT SAFE TO HAVE A MASSAGE? ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS?

Massage treatments are considered safe for most people as they are relaxing and can be applied gently. However, it is advisable not to offer treatments in the following cases:

  • If you have a fever and contagious diseases (such as COVID)
  • Neuritis
  • Under the influence of drug or alcohol
  • Recent operations
  • Skin diseases
  • Serious cardiovascular conditions
